Arbutus Triptych

The arbutus tree is my favourite tree. The way it bends and turns lends itself my style of drawing almost as if I created the tree into existence from my own imagination The uniqueness of its nature only being found on the west coast. The way it loses its leaves in the summer and how its red bark peels back to reveal its softer inner layers of green. This one in particular I found at Rathtrevor beach on the East coast of Vancouver Island while adventuring with my two youngest children.
